International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women. The first IWD was in 1911 and since then each year around the world the day is celebrated on 08 March. Events are usually planned throughout March and throughout the years they have been tailored around a specific theme. However, it is to the discretion of each country and group to determine an appropriate theme.
Though it originally came into existance because of women's fight for better pay, voting rights and an end to discrimination, the annual celebration is now largely dedicated to inspiring women worldwide and celebrating their achievements. This year is the 100th International Women's Day. The experience of work has been challenging and invigorating for a few but for most women in the shops, offices, call centres and factories on the 21rst century in Britain it has been more likely to represent long hours, and constant pressure. The big increase in the number of women working (more than 12 million today) has come from working mothers. But there has been no similar change in how the childcare and family have been organized. Women in the modern society have multiple roles to perform, and they are still faced with a challenging working environment at times.
At Park Royal Partnership, we recognize that a large number of businesses in the area, are successfully run by enterpreneurial women. Such businesses include the HoneyRose Bakey, La Maison Des Sorbets and Fresh Naturally Organic to just name a few! In recognition to the achievements of women enterpreneurs based in Park Royal - London's industrial heart, for the first time this year, Park Royal Partnership is organizing a networking evening at the Ramada Jarvis, dedicated to women enterpreneurs. The evening will be themed around leadership skills, and although you don't have to be a woman to attend, our lady guests will be able to enjoy a mini pampering treatment, in recognition of their achievements!
For more details on this evening, please contact Rena Kazinou, Head of Corporate Resources, on 0203 110 2309.
