Freight Transport

Park Royal has many freight, delivery and transport businesses that rely on good access into and out of the estate, often at all hours of the day.  Many other companies across all sectors rely on regular deliveries and/or pick ups using a variety of commercial vehicles.

The Park Royal freight route map (see pdf in related documents), launched at the Park Royal Transport Management Association (TMA) reception in September 2006, is the first initiative of its kind for an industrial estate in London.

PRP research on freight related issues for Park Royal businesses showed main issues are:

• Congestion on roads giving access to and from the A40 and North Circular Roads
• Congestion within Park Royal on certain road links and junctions
• Insufficient off-street loading/unloading facilities
• Inconsiderate and illegal parking on roads within Park Royal
• Poor road standards and maintenance within Park Royal
• Poor or inadequate road signage in some locations

PRP works with a range of public and private organisations to seek improvements in conditions for businesses who rely on freight and delivery operations in Park Royal.

The main initiatives we are working on at the moment include:

• Working with local councils (Brent, Ealing and Hammersmith & Fulham) to improve road junctions, road maintenance, introduce parking schemes, improved road signage and other traffic management schemes.
• Working with Transport for London who are responsible for the A40 and A406.
• Monitoring the current Park Royal road signage strategy for freight and delivery vehicles and proposing changes where appropriate
• Play an active part in the West London Freight Quality Partnership

Park Royal Partnership also supports Transport for London in investigating the possibilities of using the Grand Union Canal as a major freight route for aggregate and waste.
