BMAs
Business management associations (BMAs) are being developed by Park RoyalPartnership to provide focused business-led management in specific areas of the Park Royal estate.
The model has been developed over the past year in response to the demands from businesses for local improvements. Businesses within a defined geographic area are supported, both financially and through specific expertise, in setting up their own management company to invest in a programme of environmental improvements and public service enhancements.
The BMA is set up as a company limited by guarantee with clear business leadership and authority, but with support from Park Royal Partnership and the public service providers. Business members pay an annual membership subscription which acts as a funding pot for improvements; this also helps to leverage other public funding sources. A BMA provides a unified business voice for an area, and provides real focus on the needs and priorities of businesses in the estate. BMAs can deal with problems such as:
- anti-social behaviour (fly tipping, abandoned vehicles)
- poor public services (road cleansing, police presence, transport)
- damaged street furniture (footpaths, lighting, overgrown trees)
- employee safety affecting the business environment and growth
Lower Place Triangle and Cullen Way and Sunbeam Road areas are examples of good public-private partnership working collaboratively to provide real benefits to the area.
