Planning

The availability of land and property for business investment and growth, and the creation of an effective environment for businesses, are central to the future success of Park Royal. PRP works on a number of levels to ensure that there is a coherent and effective approach to development in Park Royal.

With Design for London, PRP commissioned 5th Studio to develop a new public realm strategy, developed in consultation with the three boroughs (Brent, Ealing, and Hammersmith & Fulham).  The strategy looks at ways to protect Park Royal’s long-term competitiveness through improvements to the public areas (roads, pavements and open spaces), making things better for businesses, residents and visitors.  It will be launched at at 8.30am on 30 October at New London Architecture (NLA) exhibition.

For business members of PRP, and companies wishing to establish businesses in the area, we can offer initial planning information and advice: how to make an application, key contacts, supporting documentation required, and referral to suitable planning consultants. The partnership will not take a partial position on members' planning applications but will, if appropriate, comment on proposals in relation to the Partnership's overall objectives for Park Royal  - for more information, see the 10 year Regeneration Strategy for Park Royal.

PRP works with developers to secure successful redevelopment of major sites within the estate. Key aims include:

  • Maintaining Park Royal as the largest industrial location in London,
  • Increasing job opportunities through business growth,
  • Improving public transport and the movement of essential traffic,
  • Providing a clean and well-managed environment with quality buildings,
  • Improving the public realm and providing amenities to support businesses.

The Mayor's London Plan identifies Park Royal as an Opportunity Area (places with the potential to accommodate new jobs or new homes).  You can download the Park Royal Opportunity Area Planning Framework (OAPF) full document or a four-page summary from the links on the right hand side of this page.

This will guide the future development of the area for the next fifteen to twenty years and will support a consistent approach to development by the 3 local planning authorities.
