Waste & recycling

Dealing with waste and recycling is an increasingly important concern for business.  Research indicates that some 200,000 tonnes of commercial waste are generated on the estate annually, and that waste disposal costs Park Royal businesses over £15 million per year.

PRP can offer business members advice; we have access to bodies with wide experience in waste handling and/or recycling. In some cases we can arrange for companies to undergo an environmental audit.  Audits will look at how companies use energy, dispose of waste, and recycle materials, and will result in clear recommendations for each business to address and improve on its current practice.

Park Royal is already a centre for waste and recycling with a number of companies and sites providing services. PRP works at a strategic level to ensure Park Royal maintains and develops this role:
  • PRP are working with local authorities to ensure that existing waste management sites are safeguarded and to identify sufficient new sites for recycling and waste management facilities.
  • PRP is progressing a project to establish a Renewable fuels plant. The plant would be a valuable addition to current facilities dealing with commercial waste at affordable prices and producing gas and diesel. The plant could reduce the proportion of waste sent to landfill by over 85% and limit firms’ exposure to the impending carbon tax.
