Cycling & walking

In partnership with local councils we have lobbied for and implemented improved lighting, pedestrian crossing facilities, footpaths, landscaped areas, improved pavements and CCTV in several areas within the estate. We want to increase walking as a viable, healthy, and environmentally friendly activity.
40% of the 35,000 people employed on the Park Royal estate live within the local boroughs, and could walk or cycle to work, either directly or part of a bus or train journey.
The Park Royal bike user group is part of the PRP Transport Management Association (TMA). Issues are discussed at regular quarterly meetings. Cycling lanes are being improved around the estate to promote cycling as a safe means of transport.
Public realm framework for Park Royal
PRP commissioned consultants to assess usage of public areas of the estate including pavements, underpasses and roads. They will be making recommendations for improvements to encourage business users and visitors to walk and cycle through the estate. We aim to implement the recommendations from January 2008.
